Apple on Tuesday took the wraps off the new iPhone 4S, an upgrade to its smash-hit iPhone 4 handset.
The new device packs slightly upgraded hardware wrapped in a familiar-looking form. In fact, the new iPhone looks exactly like the the old. However, it's what's inside that counts, as TechCrunch noted shortly after Apple's keynote event ended.
Indeed, the iPhone 4S is hiding several big new features in plain sight, such as an upgraded antenna, support for Apple's futuristic new virtual assistant and a slick new operating system. And though some much hoped-for features were absent--4G support, wave-and-pay technology--there are those who are quite satisfied with the new device. Blogger Dan Frommer, for one, opined that the iPhone is "still the best phone that money can buy."
But not everyone was a happy camper. Some sounded off on Twitter to express their instant disappointment with the new release.
