First Lady Michelle Obama donned a big bow on her sweater as she visited her hometown of Chicago to encourage the mayor to make healthy food available and affordable for those living in lower-income neighborhoods.
The first lady joined Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and eight other mayors, along with chief executive officers of several food retailers, at a Walgreens on the South Side to promote healthy eating, reports Business Week.
Style-wise, the FLOTUS looked lovely in a Tracy Reese black-and-white striped sweater that was festooned with a large bow on the right shoulder. The stripes especially popped against a background of fresh apples, oranges and watermelons as Mrs. O addressed the crowd.
This isn't the first time the first lady has embraced the bow. She wore a blue and green bow tank to plant trees back in 2009, and in April of that year she sported a huge bow on a crisp white shirt.
"In so many neighborhoods, if people want to buy a head of lettuce or salad or some fruit for their kid's lunch, they have to take two or three buses, maybe pay for a taxicab, in order to do it," the FLOTUS told the crowd, arguing for easier access to nutritious foods. A good cause and great style? We'll toast to that.
