How big a Batman fan is Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes?
The suspect in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history had a Batman poster in his bedroom, allegedly told arresting officers that he was "The Joker," and dyed his hair red in an apparent attempt to imitate that classic villain (whose hair, incidentally, is green).
Now, it's being reported that Holmes has been asking jail employees how the "Dark Knight Rises" ends.
“Did you see the movie?” Holmes asked a jail worker at the Arapahoe County Detention Center on Tuesday, reports the New York Daily News. “How does it end?”
Holmes asked the question again when the employee ignored him, according to another worker, who told the News that he “was trying to look like he was sincerely curious.”
Holmes, the 24-year-old former honor student accused of killing 12 and injuring 58 in the darkened theater last week, saw the first half hour of the movie before allegedly leaving to go out to his car and returning in full body armor and armed with three guns, including a military-style rifle capable of shooting 50 to 60 rounds per minute.
Holmes, who remains in solitary confinement for his own protection, has been fitted with a plastic face guard to prevent him from incessantly spitting on jail guards.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this post stated that the fictional character of the Joker has red, rather than green, hair.
