Madonna Sells Massive New York Apartment For Equally Massive Sum Of Money (PHOTOS)

The Last Vestige Of Madonna's Marriage To Sean Penn Has Been Sold

Madonna is known for courting controversy both on- and off-stage. Over the past few years, the pop star has angered a few of her Upper West Side neighbors in the tony Harperley Hall building due to her loud music. It looks like the end is nigh for all parties involved -- according to the Wall Street Journal, Madonna has sold her New York City apartment.

A hedge fund manager purchased the apartment for less than the recent asking price of over $19 million (which is a steal, considering that the original ask was more than $23 million).

The 6,000-square-foot apartment, overlooking Central Park, boasts over six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and amenities like a gym, doorman and rooftop garden.

According to a 1991 piece in Architectural Digest, Madge's brother Christopher (remember him from "Truth Or Dare"?) was the interior designer behind the apartment's subtle decor. The apartment housed several tremendously famous (and expensive) pieces of art, including "Les Deux Bicyclettes, 1944," by Fernand Léger and "Le Coeur Voilé, 1932," by Dali. One of our favorite quotes from the AD piece is about Madonna loving her office because, "I can use my fax machine and look at my Picasso at the same time.” Seriously? That Madonna performed such a quotidien task is beyond us.

Not to worry, Madonna fans. The material girl will still be in the Big Apple -- she owns a triple-wide townhouse on the Upper East Side that she purchased in 2009 for $32.5 million.
