If you've got plans this Saturday night, cancel them -- you're watching "House of Versace" on Lifetime.
You may have heard that Lifetime was turning the life of the late Gianni Versace and his sister, Donatella, into a movie, and you might have seen the photos of Gina Gershon transformed in her blonde Donatella wig.
But if that wasn't incentive enough to turn your TV to Lifetime this Saturday night, here's a new tidbit: The Versace family is not happy about the movie. The company said in a statement to Women's Wear Daily:
"Versace has neither authorized nor had any involvement whatsoever in the forthcoming TV movie about Mrs. Versace... Since Versace did not authorize the book on which it is based, the movie should only be seen as a work of fiction."
Which, of course, only makes us want to watch it more. The movie's plot is based on a book, "House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival" by Deborah Ball, rather than original interviews with Donatella or her family members. But there is plenty of family intrigue on public record, including Donatella's stint in rehab and the extravagantly glam life she built for herself when she got out.
We're so watching this On Demand. Read more about the movie here and take a sneak peek at Gina as Donatella in the photo below.
"House of Versace" premieres Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
