When Meghan Markle saw her spectacular wedding dress and veil for the first time since the big day, she revealed a sweet secret.

A blue patch of fabric from the dress she wore for her very first date with Prince Harry was stitched into the 16.5-foot-long silk tulle veil.

“It’s my something blue,” Markle told ITV. “It’s fabric from the dress I wore on our first date.”

Meghan Markle's something borrowed and something blue traditions have been revealed in a new documentary.

The comment came from the upcoming ITV documentary, “Queen of The World,” which honors Queen Elizabeth II and her relationship with the Commonwealth, an association of nations mostly made up of former territories of the British Empire.

Markle’s veil also included 53 embroidered flowers representing the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, which was a surprise for her groom.

“It was important for me, especially now being a part of the royal family, to have all 53 of the Commonwealth countries incorporated,” Markle said. “I knew it would be a fun surprise for my now husband. He was really over the moon.”

For Markle’s “something borrowed,” Queen Elizabeth loaned her Queen Mary’s diamond tiara, made in 1932, which held Markle’s veil in place.

Check out the “something blue” reveal in the clip above, and the trailer for the documentary below. The program airs in Britain on Tuesday and will debut in the U.S. on HBO Oct. 1.
