After crushing Vancouver 4-0 last weekend, DC United were hoping to do the same to another Canadian team. Toronto FC, winless since their first game of the season, were looking to kickstart their season.
Last season DC United scored early in their defeat to Toronto, this season it was Toronto's turn, as Sebastian Giovinco put the ball in the net after only 58 seconds
United immediately attacked back through Fabian Espindola
...although Clint Irwin, in goal, stood firm
United continued to attack through Espindola
...Chris Rolfe
...Nick DeLeon
...Lamar Neagle
...and Patrick Nyarko
...but the Toronto defense did not allow anyone through
...none moreso than Michael Bradley, who seemed to be everywhere on the pitch
Which enabled Toronto to push forward, and challenge Travis Worra
As the game continued, United continued to attack to try and create an equalizer
...but, once again, the Toronto defense refused to capitulate
with Irwin continuing to protect his clean sheet
Which meant that the game ended with a 1-0 win for Toronto.
