So this is my plea to you: Don't do this to Louisiana again. The Republicans got your message. They are doing the best they can to get planes, trains and buses to New Orleans so that everyone can get out.
Karl Rove's minions may be smiling at the brazen gamesmanship of this pick: but if Americans fall for it, they should know all too well what to expect.
McCain's suggestion of a visit will waste precious hours when hours and minutes make all the difference. It's a complete disregard for the mission and the government professionals at all levels attempting to keep people safe.
Is money the reason New Orleans has to wait three more years before even the semblance of protection is in place? What's the city supposed to do in the meantime?
Katrina was a natural disaster. (False) New Orleans is located in the wrong place and should be relocated. (False) New Orleans is entirely below sea level. (False)
When John McCain makes his grand exploitation trip to Louisiana later this week, keep in mind that he voted down every chance he had to actually provide help and oversight the last time this happened.
If John McCain is smart, a viewing of When The Levees Broke might put his Straight Talk Express back on the right track. It might even find its way into his acceptance speech on Thursday night.
Republicans were performing a rain dance this time last week hoping and praying that a thunderstorm might wash out Barack Obama's parade.
So, I ask these same charlatans, why is God contemplating such a thing?
However minimal Sarah Palin's qualifications for high office may be, she does have one proven Track record. And a Bristol, Willow, Piper, and Trig rec...
NORTHCOM taking the lead in public relations with Gustav is a clear indication that nothing has been fixed in DHS and FEMA since Katrina.
Hopefully God is just sending a warning and all will be well along the coast and we will elect Barack Obama president and put things right with God and his son, Lord Baby Jesus.
On the eve of the third anniversary of Katrina, with Gustav churning into the Gulf, Karl Rove's latest quip shows where his head is, and has always been, on the matter of hurricanes.
"Katrina and cronyism." That's the sum total of the verbiage from the podium of the DNC about the "greatest man-made engineering disaster in American history."
Political conventions have a long list of things each party is concerned with, but the aftermath of Katrina and the pendancy of Gustav deserve top billing this week.

So far, upper level wind shear from the west has been making these storms less severe than they could have been.
It's been that way for the past three years.
And there is science that attributes that shear to global warming.
Imagine that!
AGW actually causes hurricanes to be LESS intense and MORE infrequent.
Got any links to back you up there, timmy?
